Feeding Houston’s Heroes, a newly formed initiative in partnership with FPC Houston, is an opportunity for Houstonians to express their appreciation to Houston’s healthcare workers, first responders and others on the front lines of the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Through online donations, FHH treats first responders and simultaneously supports local restaurants that have struggled to stay afloat during this time of uncertainty by using 100 percent of the money raised to purchase meals, snacks and coffee.
“We are delighted to give back to these men and women who are giving everything they’ve got to protecting the health and welfare of Houstonians,” said Joni Calkins, FPC Houston member and a founder of Feeding Houston’s Heroes initiative. “If you are looking for a way to care for others during this time of social distancing, all the funds collected will be used for the purchase and delivery of meals and snacks.”
“It has been an honor and a privilege for us to be able to feed the heroes on the frontline,” said Addie Teague of Relish Restaurant and Bar. “Feeding Houston’s Heros has given us and our staff a sense of purpose, while also financially helping us keep our employees and pay our vendors during these trying times. We will get through this together.”
