Accenture to Provide Applications Management and Development Services to EMS

Two Companies Also Announce Alliance to Co-Develop and Market Gas- and Liquids-Measurement Solutions

HOUSTON, Nov. 15, 2004 — Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has signed an agreement to provide EMS Pipeline Services (EMS), a leading pipeline operations and maintenance service provider, with applications management and software development services on an outsourced basis.  Financial terms were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, Accenture will provide services for the support, testing and developing of EMS’ suite of gas-measurement software products. The suite includes EMS’ PGAS product, which allows users to segment their pipelines and balance each segment independently, enabling them to pinpoint sources of lost gas to correct potential problems.

Accenture and EMS have also signed a seven-year global market agreement to jointly develop and market gas- and liquids-measurement systems for gas production, transmission and distribution companies worldwide.  The systems will be built leveraging EMS’ PGAS product, the widely accepted standard in natural gas measurement systems, and will be designed to help pipeline owners simplify the management of data from electronic flow measurement and SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems to reduce costs related to lost and unaccounted-for gas, improve compliance with government regulations, and increase operational efficiency.

“Accenture will bring together the right mix of people, skills and capabilities to help EMS scale as needed to support its growing PGAS customer base,” said David Day, a partner in Accenture’s Energy industry group. “Accenture and EMS will combine their skills and capabilities to bring innovative solutions faster to the global market.” said David Day, a partner in Accenture’s Energy industry group.”

The alliance combines EMS’ experience in developing industry-leading business solutions in pipeline operations and maintenance with Accenture’s knowledge of the energy industry and experience in building commercial software packages.

“This alliance will further strengthen PGAS’s market leadership by accessing Accenture’s CMM Level 5 certified development centers to augment our product development capabilities,” said Tim Nesler, CEO of EMS Pipeline Services.  “Moreover, we are looking forward to extending our global marketing efforts through Accenture’s global reach.”
