Voxofon to Present on OTT Monetization and Revenue Models at Monetizing OTT Services 2014
Says traditional telecoms that take a wait-and-see approach risk becoming irrelevant
HOUSTON, March 20, 2014 – Voxofon (www.voxofon.com), a rapidly growing provider of mobile apps utilizing over-the-top (OTT) voice and messaging services, today announced that Voxofon co-founder and board member Roberto Moctezuma will present at Monetizing OTT Services 2014. Moctezuma's presentation, "Understanding What OTT Messaging Providers Need and Expect In Order To Partner with Operators," will describe the revenue generating opportunities of partnering with OTT messaging providers such as Voxofon.
Facebook's acquisition of WhatsApp was a clear signal of the turmoil that threatens telecom operators' traditional voice and messaging revenues. In Europe, several telecom operators have realized that a wait-and-see approach is no longer an option. German mobile operator E-Plus, which struck a deal to launch a WhatsApp-branded service, while Russian mobile operator VimpelCom announced a similar agreement last December. In the same month, Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia inked partnerships respectively with Twitter and Amazon to host their apps on mobile devices.
"Telecommunications has experienced the emergence of a new ecosystem – in which Voxofon and other OTT services are disruptors – bringing a consumer-centric approach to product and service development and an international perspective to the concept of connectivity," said Moctezuma. "Instead of locking customers into a rigid set of bundled products and services, this new ecosystem is rooted in the development of simple, innovative solutions that allow consumers to leverage the latest devices and technologies to communicate and engage with their friends and family in specific ways that appeal to them."
In response to the growing appetite and opportunity for incorporating calling and messaging features into mobile and Web applications, Voxofon also recently announced the launch of Bit6 (www.bit6.com), a real-time communications platform that allows developers to add communication features into their applications with just a few lines of code. With Bit6, developers are able to quickly respond to the changing needs and behaviors of consumers and create the next WhatsApp or SnapChat in a matter of days.
Monetizing OTT Services 2014 will take place in London March 25-27 2014. Moctezuma's presentation is part of the OTT Player Focus Session, which begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25th. Moctezuma also will participate in a session-ending panel discussion, "How Can Operators Drive Value From OTT Services and Enhance the Customer Experience?" with Philippe Joly of Yeloword; Jone Oostveen of Spotify; and Andreas Fjeld of Telenor Norway.
In his presentation, Moctezuma will detail what OTT messaging providers need and expect in order to partner with operators, describe how to manage the increasingly fragmented telecommunications ecosystem, identify how to leverage partnership models to ensure successful ventures, and show how operators fit into Voxofon's current and future strategy.
The Monetizing OTT Services 2014 Conference in London is the only event to focus on monetizing OTT services for the telecoms industry. The event brings together leaders of fixed and mobile operators with the leaders of OTT service providers to create a singular forum for networking on a global scale, to share insights, and learn how to form profitable and mutually beneficial partnerships.
